All Easy

All Easy
I see a light,
it's shrouded in miles.
I call it bright
though it hasn't lit me for awhile.
See a light,
cal it bright,
it's all I can find.
It's not so easy,
is it now to try.
You see a spark,
though it's hard to find the time.
Hours in the dark
can kill off that desire.
See a spark,
in the dark
it's all you can guard.
It's not so easy,
is it now to try.

Eyelids
Sorry if I cast off your confession.
I thought it more just talk to pass the time.
If you mean it now,
If you're speaking free,
go on ahead and show your doubt,
go on ahead and show your doubt with ease.
The feeling comes along and stirs you restless.
And leaves you listless, looking for a sign.
And it stays around,
and it hunts you late,
holding you right there by the why,
holding you right there by the why shouldn't I?
And it's only one thought,
making a whole lot of,
noise from the darkest part where,
you keep your overwrought and,
don't give it legs to run.
Even in the depths of your obsession,
of how to lie atop a perfect line.
You can lie down on yourself now,
lie down on yourself, somehow.
Saying you couldn't try when you could get it,
Talking it 'til it's killed when you could let it.
And just lie down on yourself now,
lie down on yourself, somehow.
And it's only one thought,
making a whole lot of,
noise from the darkest part where,
you keep your overwrought and,
don't give it legs to run.
Saying it's just a dream until it's found.
Go ahead, put your eyelids down.

Modern Confusion

Modern Confusion
You got a lot on your shoulders.
But you wear it just like a night out.
Though it must be the weight of a boulder,
but you hold it up high like a lighthouse.
I know the illusion of strength,
all the while it takes.
Removes all your corner stones,
brick by brick.
I take a look at your pictures,
where the sky is radiating a pure blue.
Yea you must have the eye for the perfect light,
or maybe you're making your own truth.
I know the illusion of strength,
all the while it takes.
Removes all your corner stones,
brick by brick.
You don't have a reason to come down,
you don't have a clue.
We got that map of the islands.
Though we have no desire to visit them.
And it might be the modern illusion,
the ethereal misleading of the condemned.
I know the illusion of strength,
all the while it takes.
Removes all your corner stones,
brick by brick.
We don't have a reason to come down,
We don't have a clue.

Fight For It

Fight For It
You decided on your own,
to give it time to grow and I don't,
fault you for it.
It wasn't set in stone,
but pulled you down below the rocks,
and somehow got so slippery and unforgiving.
Can't be mad at you,
but I am.
I tried to do my part,
I learned I'm not so pure of heart,
it tore my modesty apart.
And you stood, and you shook,
a frantic windblown open book,
sometimes I look to you,
and sometimes I just look.
Before I get it out,
I pin it down and cut it up,
and watch it die unfound.
Before you get it out,
you scare it off and sing too loud,
to let it be a memory of something,
deep down and quiet.
Can't be mad at you,
but I am.
I count up my hangups.
Like stacking paper cups,
one in the next, so perfectly aligned.
And I reach for signs,
but I make them all up in my mind.
Sometimes I see a light,
sometimes it's just light.
We've got it all coming down,
just like, just like an old house.
We got it all,
just like an old home.

Light It Moved Me

Light It Moved Me
I dreamed our house was eaten up, by a vine.
The sky was black and white and cut, like a cowhide.
Knew it enough to call it fake, but I stood afraid.
What if it meant a big mistake,
or a shifting fate?
Light it moved me,
it confused me to the bone.
You're better off in the city's arms, going wild.
Deep in Manhattan in the thick, of a night ride.
Whipping about in the tunnel blind, 'til you shoot up high.
Getting a glance as you're crossing sides,
of that big skyline.
Light it moved you,
it broke through you, took you home.
If you're out of whys, or things to be satisfied;
dark and down.
Wouldn't you decide to follow a simple sign?
Brightly bound.
I read the rules on a rock, 'til it chipped blood.
Epiphany it came to me, with the word what.
So I put the laws aside, 'cause who gives a fuck,
if I'm lazy or divine, because neither's luck.
Light it moved me,
it withdrew me from a stone.

A Story In The Times
Do you hold on to better plans?
I don't have a map,
I don't have a home.
Do you hold on to better plans,
I don't have a map,
I don't have a home.
And the sun rises through me now.
Do you hold on with steady hands,
I am not a rock,
I don't have the bones.
Do you hold on with steady hands,
I am not a rock,
I don't have the bones.
And the doubt flies through me now.
Cold will,
who's got the time to lose?
Hold still,
give up the signs and breathe easy, freely.
Do you hold onto better plans,
I don't have a map,
I don't have a home.

For Jim

For Jim
We put in time,
like quarters in a slot,
but the moon is still a rock,
and we've only got what we've got now.
Don't think through it,
it only kills it off.
Don't shine a light on it,
it only turns to dark.
You start to blame yourself
for running toward a simple spark.
But you let your legs go,
maybe it's there,
maybe it's not.

Queen Of The Hour

Queen Of The Hour
Give it a day,
I'll touch down on the moon.
Or say that I did,
and break these hopeless rules.
Isn't it key to play the hopeless fool?
With your palms out,
eyes as wide as pools.
Strange how,
the day seems to ask you if you've got it all down,
queen of the hour,
pretend it's just so easy and free.
But you give all you have when you have to.
Holding on so still now.

You Must Believe In Spring
So you wanna go back to New York,
I'm just surprised.
I thought we'd moved on from the city.
I don't have a steady job,
does it make me frivolous to say to you,
we should follow through with our desires?
Walking the west side,
circling as Stuyvesant is getting out,
kids loose around us now.
We stay idle for a while.
Is it just the temptation holding you still?
Just a want to pass the time?
Try anything once,
second time only,
if you do believe that the light needs following.
